Thursday
I had another "shopping" trip today. I must have walked more today than any single day this year.
Zebeda and Fatouh arrived finally after missing their plane from KL due to a big accident on the freeway to the airport. They wanted to go to one of the Tech malls that was a few km from the hotel. Mal also came and Matthias came part the way looking for food and then left us.
WE walked through china town which had 100's of food stalls and then to the mall. It was raining most of the time so it was - walk under a verandah where possible and get wet otherwise. Fatouh had one of those fold up brollies (in pink) but it didn't really cover 4 people. Fortunately it was still warm so getting a bit damp wasn't a problem.
The mall itself was typical of these in Asia. multi storied with camera, IT and phone shops all over the place. IN the end our only purchase other than food and drink, were some SD disks and a sim for Malcolm. He'd neglected to bring his phone or his passport so someone else bought it for him. He later found his phone is locked !!!!
WE all gathered in the foyer for dinner from 6-30 onwards and their appeared to be around 60 there with a booking at a nearby Chinese for 40. There were less than that initially so not everyone I counted was in our group but late arrivals had us close to my original guesstimate. I sat next to Peter, with 2 Japanese, 4 Indonesians and a couple of Singaporeans at our table. Another 4 Aussies turned up later when their plane got in so our numbers are down a bit from last year.
The meal was great and certainly more than enough. I must admit the jellyfish wasn't to my liking though.
Once we'd all finished most of us headed for Clarke Quay another couple of Km's walk away. This riverside development is a centre of night life with many restaurants, pumps and clubs. We eventually finished at the Pump Room, which was a boutique beer place with a live 7-piece rock band. We we seated in the reserved section.
I left with 3 others and got back about 11. I slept straight through to 7 this morning.
