Trams, buses and boats

Monday (this and adjacent posts are our of order)

I slept to about 7 and decided to take advantage of the spa in the bathroom. It took quite a while to fill it and then it was too hot so while it cooled off I did some stuff on the PC. When I “surfaced” I realised it was less than 30 minutes till we had to be at the bus. I jumped in the spa and then jumped out, as it was still too hot.

Our first stop today was the Jasper tramway, a cable car to the top of one of the mountains overlooking Jasper. We have had great weather here since I arrived but today it was a bit overcast and there were some light showers. This meant that the view from the top wasn’t as clear as it might have been. On the other hand we did have a rainbow.
It was an hour or so to the next stop which was Lake Maligne, where we had a boat cruise organised. The lake is 22 km long and the trip goes about 2/3 of the way to Spirit Island, one of the most photographed scenes in the Rockies.

On the way back we stopped at Maligne Canyon, a very deep and narrow canyon carved by the stream that runs through it. We only got as far of the 3rd of 7 or so bridges.

The bus stopped in the town again where we shopped for BBQ supplies. Our cabin has a gas BBQ outside and with the largest common room we hosted dinner. I had a rather large Texas T-bone and there was more than enough sled, dips and so forth. We have supplies for dinner tonight as well.

It wasn’t a late night again.
